Academy 2023 New Orleans promises the continuing education, networking, and special events you have come to expect, along with opportunities to meet with our exhibitors and learn about their latest innovations in the optometric industry.

Education & Events
The American Academy of Optometry presents four days of quality enrichment and education at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The event will feature workshops, a robust lineup of lectures, popular ACE courses, Section and SIG Symposia, and scientific program papers and posters. The Academy is accredited by COPE to provide continuing education to optometrists.
As a reminder, workshops and ACE courses require an additional fee and must be purchased at the time of registration. While these two options may be added at a later date, they sell out quickly. Attendees are encouraged to secure their spot early.
We offer our attendees the opportunity to obtain CEE(TQ) credit by attending select CEE approved lectures throughout the meeting.

International Attendees
In August 2023, the Academy Board of Directors approved a reduction in Full Registration prices for international attendees who reside in a country that falls on the World Bank’s low income and lower-middle income economies. The Academy utilizes the following list to determine which countries fall under these categories: View List
For those residing in countries in the low-income list, the fees have been reduced by 90% to:
- Members: $65
- Non-members: $85
For those residing in countries on the lower-middle income list, the fees have been reduced by 75% to:
- Members: $162.50
- Non-members: $237.50
For assistance taking advantage of this reduced pricing, please ensure your Academy account accurately reflects your current mailing address/country of residence. Then contact registration@aaoptom.org for a coupon code to adjust your pricing.

- Leadership Academy: Year-round program: $195. Application required.
- Exhibit Hall access
- Social and special events. Drink tickets and heavy appetizers will be provided. All of this is included in the cost of registration.
- CE certificate shortly after the completion of Academy 2023 New Orleans.

Cancellation Policy
Requests for meeting refunds, which include registration fees, workshops, leadership courses, and banquet tickets, must be received in writing at the Academy office before August 10, 2023, at which time a full refund less $25 will be administered.
Written requests received on or after August 11, 2023 and not later than September 30, 2023 will be assessed an administrative charge of 25% of the total fees. No refunds will be given to requests received after October 1, 2023.
Visa Information
Most international attendees visiting the United States will need to apply for a visa through the U.S. Department of State.
Visa applications are now subject to a greater degree of scrutiny than in the past. The visa application process can take several weeks.
Please note the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) for travel to and from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda.
It is important to thoroughly review all information on the specific Embassy’s Consular Section website for local procedures and instructions on making an interview appointment, paying fees and checking on the status of your visa application. Find the consulate for your country by selecting the associated region.
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the United States without a visa for stays of 90 days or less, when they meet all requirements explained below. Travelers must be eligible to use the VWP and have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel.
The Visa invitation letters are issued to registered attendees only. Please fill out the Visa Invitation Letter Form after completing your meeting registration.
