The mission of the Vision Science section is to foster and
disseminate both clinical and basic science research from the moleculer to the intact system level of the visual system as it relates to visual function in health and disease.
The goals of the Vision Science are to:
- Develop and present Section symposia that present recent
advances in vision science research and clinical applications of
basic vision science.
- Serve as a resource for fostering optometric research in the anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, optics, physiology, development and psychophysics of the visual and oculomotor systems, as well as related fields such as applied optics, bioengineering, cognitive psychology and computer vision.
- Serve as a source of public information and public awareness
on new research and clinical applications in the area of vision
science.
