Overview
The Academy's Section on Cornea & Contact Lenses has established a special fund for the purpose of sponsoring an AOF Ezell Fellow, to be known as the
CCL Section - Ezell Fellowship Fund. In funding an Ezell Fellow, the Section is encouraging post-graduate students to pursue academic careers in optometry and vision science.
This is the first time that a Diplomate Section has made a significant showing of support for AOF's mission and programs. However, in order to see this campaign come to fruition, it is essential to have 100% participation from within the Section. The Section must establish a $200,000 endowment to fund the award for future generations. While this is an ambitious goal, it is definitely attainable! As of June 2006, the Section has raised over $150,000! With your help - the Section can reach its goal.
Dr. Melissa Bailey, The Ohio State University College of Optometry, was the first recipient of the Section sponsored Ezell Fellowship. Dr. Peter Bergenske, AOF 2002 President, stated, “Dr. Bailey’s educational experience and initiative demonstrate the characteristics that initiated this program within the Section. It is a privilege to honor her as the first recipient of the Section on Cornea & Contact Lenses-Ezell Fellowship.”
